How is the TEMPUR® Mattress different?

The one thing that all conventional mattresses have in common is that they force the user to conform to them. With TEMPUR, the mattress actually conforms to the body.

How does it work? What's it made from?

The TEMPUR Pressure Relieving Material is composed of billions of visco-elastic spherical shaped, open cells. The cells respond to your body temperature and weight then shift and re-organise their position to mould to the exact contours of your body. It becomes softer in warmer areas (where your body is making the most contact with the surface) and remains firmer in cooler areas (where less body contact is being made). Due to the removal of pressure, blood is able to flow freely throughout the night, making you toss and turn less - in other words - you get a better night's sleep.

Why is this better?

By conforming to your body, the TEMPUR Mattress eliminates virtually all pressure points and spreads body weight evenly.

Is the TEMPUR Mattress and Pillow hypo-allergenic?

All products come with a removable velour cover that is anti-mite and anti-allergy treated.

Do I need to turn the TEMPUR Mattress?

No, the TEMPUR Mattress is single-sided and should never be turned.

Initial aches and pains

Initially some people may experience some new aches & pains. This is down to the Tempur mattress realigning your sleeping position and is perfectly normal. It demonstates that the mattress is working and the effects will dissapear within a 60 day period.

Will i find the mattress too hot?

Tempur will not increase your body temperature. Tempur has an open cell structure that is self ventilating and allows air to flow freely through the material allowing the temperature to remain constant and neutral.

Can I use an electrical blanket?

No, electrical blankets are not recommended for use on Tempur mattresses. The exposure to direct heat over extended periods of time can cause damage to the TEMPUR Material.

What maintenance does the TEMPUR Mattress need?

The TEMPUR Mattress needs no maintenance. Should you wish to wash the cover it can be easily removed and machine washed at 40 degrees c. The actual Tempur material should never be washed this applies to pillows and mattresses. Please note that due to the special quilted design the covers on the Deluxe mattress and pillows cannot be washed and should be treated as a normal pillow.

Spillages

The Tempur material will absorb fluid. In the event of a spillage remove the velour cover and mop up the fluid quickly before it has been absorbed. The mattress/pillow will dry naturally. Repeat spillages will damage the Tempur material.

Suitable Bed Bases For Tempur Mattresses

Sprung edged divans

The Tempur mattress is suitable for sprung bases but this type of support will change the initial feel of the mattress.

Slatted bed bases

Slatted bed bases offer excellent support for the Tempur mattress. It is recommended that the slats are a maximum of 3" apart to give an acceptable level of support.

Sofa beds & futons

The Tempur mattress is not suitable for sofa beds or futons that are folded away.

Weight Guidelines

There is no weight limit on Tempur mattresses apart from the overlay mattress which is suitable for users up to 20 stone.
